What charging speed do you need?
Most homes use a 7kW single-phase charger. 22kW requires a three-phase supply, which is less common in domestic properties.
Which charger would you like?
Pick a brand, then the specific model. All chargers are installed with a dedicated EV consumer unit and surge protection.
Who's supplying the charger?
If you've already bought your charger, we'll deduct the unit cost from the estimate and install your own.
How far is the charger from the consumer unit?
A rough cable run is fine — we'll confirm exact routing on the photos or site visit.
How should the charger be mounted?
Wall mounting is standard. A ground-mounted post is used where there's no suitable wall near the parking spot.
A couple of things that affect the price.
If you're not sure, choose "Not sure" — we'll confirm from your photos or on a survey.
Does your consumer unit (fuse board) need upgrading?
Any groundworks or trenching needed (e.g. cable under a driveway)?
Here's your guide price.

Section 722, applied
A proper home EV install — not just a charger on a wall.
Most EV charger faults we’re called out to fix come from chargers wired in as ‘just another circuit’. Section 722 of BS 7671 sets out specific requirements for EV installations — particularly around earthing, RCD types, and PEN fault protection on TN-C-S supplies. We follow it to the letter.
- Earthing system identified (TN-C-S / TN-S / TT)
- Main fuse rating verified for total load
- Type A RCD or Type B RDC-DD as required
- Earth electrode where charger lacks PEN protection
- Dedicated 32A or 40A circuit installed
- EIC and DNO notification handled
Home installation
A proper home EV install — not just a charger on a wall.
Most installation faults we’re called to fix come from chargers wired as ‘just another circuit’. We do the earthing assessment properly.
Where you qualify for the EV chargepoint grant (renters and flat owners, £350 off), we handle the application on your behalf.
For most homes we can quote from photos of your consumer unit and meter position. No mystery pricing.
If your main fuse can’t take a 7 kW charger alongside an electric shower, we’ll tell you before you order.
Frequently asked questions
A proper home EV install — not just a charger on a wall.
How long does an EV charger installation take?
Most straightforward home installs are a half-day to a full day.
Do I qualify for the EV chargepoint grant?
The current OZEV grant (£350) is restricted to flat owners and renters. Owner-occupiers in houses no longer qualify.
Which EV charger should I choose?
For solar self-consumption: Zappi. For app-led smart scheduling: Ohme or Hypervolt. For minimalist looks: Andersen. For workplace fleets: Hypervolt or Project EV.
Can I have a charger installed without off-street parking?
Yes, in some cases — Surrey County Council has on-street chargepoint schemes, and channel solutions like Kerbo Charge let you run a cable across the pavement legally.
Do you fit chargers I’ve already bought?
Yes, as long as it’s an OZEV-approved, BS EN 61851-compliant unit.
Will the charger affect my electricity bill?
Only when you’re charging. Pair it with an EV tariff (Octopus Go, Intelligent Octopus, EDF GoElectric) and you’ll typically charge for 6–9p/kWh overnight.
